WORLD Radio - Kicker: Lost pigeon

NICK EICHER, HOST: An animal-loving household in Peoria, Arizona was missing one of its own earlier this month.

Norman and Marlette Fernando and their cat, four dogs, and snail had lost their pigeon, named Olive.

Marlette had taken Olive outside before, but one day Olive flew the coop and didn’t fly back.

Turns out teenaged pigeons can be a bit rebellious.

But a good samaritan found Olive and took her to Fallen Feathers Bird Rescue Center. She wasn’t tagged, but she was wearing a distinctive vest. It was bedazzled with gemstones.

REICHARD: Ooooh!

Center director Jody Kieran posted on Facebook and put out the call:

KIERAN: Hi, I’m Jody Kieran with Fallen Feathers. And this friend here of mine, it’s lost its home. So if you know who its owner is, give us a call.

A friend saw the post, made the call, and now the rhinestone pigeon is back with all the rest of the Fernandos.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
