NICK EICHER, HOST: For a firefighter, one of the most important weapons in his arsenal is a firehose.
But firefighter Ashton Hanway in Fayetteville, North Carolina, last Friday found another use for it: Not to put a fire out, but to kindle a fire — in a manner of speaking.
AUDIO: Engine starts, transmission engages and truck moves forward as siren starts, revealing firehose
You’re hearing Hanway’s buddies driving away in a smaller fire truck. And when they did, that revealed a message for Hanway’s girlfriend, who’d paid a visit to the firehouse. Spelled out on the floor was that hundred-foot hose arranged in a cursive line of text. It read: Will you marry me
For the record, she did say yes.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
