WORLD Radio - Kicker: Intruder alert

NICK EICHER, HOST: Frightened house sitters heard loud banging noises in another room, as though someone was ransacking the house. One of them called 911.

Police arrived, with guns drawn and a K9 officer by their side. They commanded the intruder to surrender.

POLICE: Beaverton Police Dept. Searching the house with a canine. Come out, you may get bit.

Following the noises, police realized the suspected burglar had holed up in a bathroom.

But when officers burst through the door, they saw nothing.

Then they looked down.

Deputy Brian Rogers said what came next was a career first.

ROGERS: There we see a robot vacuum, a Roomba, bouncing up against the shower door, clanging the shower door. And your reaction? Laughter. Pure laughter.

Probably a sigh of relief, though, too.

He said the department is still laughing about the Roomba burglar!

It’s The World and Everything in It.
