WORLD Radio - Kicker: Ice cold wolf

NICK EICHER, HOST: Three construction workers in Estonia were working at a dam along the frozen Parnu River when they saw a dog frantically swimming in a maze of ice.

They worked quickly to pull the desperate canine from the icy water, and then took him to a local shelter.

They later discovered it was actually a one-year old male grey wolf suffering from shock and hypothermia.

A veterinarian treated him,  dried out and let him rest in the shelter overnight. The next day, he was as good as new and workers at the shelter released him back into the wild with a GPS collar.

Good thing, too: Estonia is estimated to have only about 200 wolves.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
