Kicker: Home invasion

NICK EICHER, HOST: When police in suburban St. Paul, Minnesota responded to a report of a home invasion, they did not expect this.

Police arrived to try to subdue the suspect in the basement.

Now, this particular home invader was, shall we say, unresponsive to verbal commands.

And when I tell you a little more about the identity of the suspect, I think you’ll understand that the carrot, not the stick, is the more effective law-enforcement tool.

Literally. Like a bag of carrots.

Because the intruder turned out to be a pale-colored horse.

Police Sgt. Adam Wiederhoeft says it’s not clear how the horse got into the house, let alone the basement, but that the animal’s owner did come by to remove it.

A message on the police Facebook page read: “No horses or officers were hurt in this incident and the horse was safely returned to the corral!”
