But folks in Boerne, Texas went a different way Saturday— lots of fun and not so much run for those not in the best of shape.

The inaugural Boerne half K race stretched not quite a third of a mile with a halfway rest stop where runners could fill up on coffee and donuts.

Each finisher got a participation trophy and an oval half K sticker.

But the sold-out fun run had a serious side, too. Proceeds went to a local charity for underprivileged children.
