NICK EICHER, HOST: Officials in a German city near Frankfurt are serving an eviction notice: one local resident has become a real nuisance to the neighbors.
It’s a massive catfish—it’s almost 5 feet long—and it’s got a correspondingly massive appetite.
The beastly fish consumed all the smaller fish out of the pond, and that’s one thing. But then it developed a taste for ducklings. And that was where officials drew the line.
They’ve called in a professional angler to catch the fish—and they say the plan is to capture it and relocate it to a private pond somewhere else.
But the fish’s new home is going to have to meet a couple requirements to make it suitable:
First, it must be completely enclosed so the catfish can’t escape into flowing water.
And—we can not overstate the importance of this second requirement—the pond must have a very low population of ducks.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
