NICK EICHER, HOST: Firefighters in South West England have a request for late-night beach revelers: If you don’t finish your drinks, please pour them out.
In June, an animal welfare charity called firefighters to deal with what appeared to be drunken seagulls.
Firefighter Virgil Turner said by the time he’d gotten there, one of the birds had fallen off the roof.
Turner said, “He was sitting shaking his head and he then tried to fly and he nearly hit me in the face.”
The firefighter caught the bird, and then the bird regurgitated. And, well, his nose told him the bird had clearly gotten into some beer.
It’s not clear whether the seagulls were gulping leftovers — or simply that they’d gained access to waste products at a nearby brewery.
