WORLD Radio - Kicker: Driving with a kid

NICK EICHER, HOST: Police in New Hampshire recently pulled over a driver who was using her cell phone illegally. You’re supposed to have a hands-free device.

The officers soon learned she was also driving with no license. But there’s more to it than even that!

She was also driving with her kid on her lap. But believe it or not, there’s no law against that in New Hampshire.

Live free or die, you know!

But the reason you can have a lap kid in New Hampshire is because it’s not illegal to have a four-legged, furry kid.

Yes, she had a baby goat in her lap.

Police said the 60-year-old driver was released on a citation for operating without a valid license. She also got a stern talking-to about distracted driving.

Police posted the April 1st encounter on Facebook, with the comment, “I wish this was another April Fool’s joke baaaht it’s not.”

I can’t believe I just said that!

REICHARD: But they wrote it that way!

EICHER: It’s The World and Everything in It.
