All kinds of dogs are trained to perform tricks. But not very many know how to do what Poncho the Police Dog can do.
The Madrid Police Department in Spain has trained its star K-9 to perform CPR!
The department recently posted a video of a public demonstration. It shows the 8-year-old cocker spaniel jumping up and down, then pressing his front paws to the chest of a prone policeman.
At one point, Poncho pauses and presses his head to the officer’s neck to hear whether he’s breathing.
Regrettably, Poncho can’t get quite enough pressure on his paws to perform the actual life-saving procedure. But police hope the pooch can still save lives by inspiring more humans to learn CPR.
