NICK EICHER, HOST: Here’s a story that may have some Americans choosing carryout over delivery.
A company called US Foods surveyed food delivery workers. And it found that one in four admitted they had sampled the customer’s food before delivering it. Gross!
When this story first broke last week, consumers reacted the way we just did: With disbelief. This from WCBS in New York:
AUDIO: I may have to tell them if you’re that hungry let me buy you a meal and you leave mine alone!
US Foods surveyed 500 delivery drivers from services including Uber Eats, Grub Hub, Door Dash, and Postmates.
But drivers in the survey also had a gripe. Six in 10 of them said low or nonexistent tips is a consistent problem.
Now, I conducted a quick survey of the cohosts and I’ll tell you two in two said that eating your customers’ food is not going to remedy the tipping problem!
