NICK EICHER, HOST: Yes, it may be Spring, but up in Chadron, Nebraska, they just didn’t get the memo.
After a massive late-season snow, the Blundell family spent a good part of the day clearing it. And leaving behind a pile of snow bigger than a car on the side of the road.
Which got the Blundells to thinking, then to sculpting, and by the time they were done, they had themselves a pretty realistic 1967 Ford Mustang GTA — about to the scale of the one safely parked inside the family garage.
This snow sculpture was so realistic, a state trooper stopped to issue a warning: he might have to tow it!
AUDIO: 10-4. I’ll be out with that vehicle right now.
Now, we do have body-cam audio.
Of course, the officer was in on the ruse. He mainly wanted to grab some video to post on the Trooper Facebook page, like so.
AUDIO: Some people make snowmen. Not the people in the Northwest corner of the panhandle. They make snowcars. Snow Mustangs.
As for Jason Blundell and his creative kids, the goal was just to get them off of their cell phones for a day!
It’s The World and Everything in It.
