NICK EICHER, HOST: A North Carolina sheriff’s office celebrated a huge drug bust, believed to be one of the biggest fentanyl seizures ever in the state.
Police entered a home in July to find drugs and paraphernalia along with found 13 pounds of what appeared to be fentanyl with a street value of about $2 million!
It was enough to put the three suspects arrested at the home behind bars for a long time. Just one problem…
When they sent the powder to a private lab for testing, they learned it was not $2 million worth of fentanyl. In fact, it contained no illicit ingredients all.
It was nothing more than “a combination of simple and complex carbohydrates.” In other words, sugar … worth about $8.
REICHARD: Whoopsies! Gotta love due process!
EICHER: It’s The World and Everything in It.
