NICK EICHER, HOST: A 17-year-old student in the UK thought he found a loophole in school policy.
Administrators at Spalding Grammar School banned the use of backpacks. The idea was to protect younger students from injury by heavy book bags swinging in the hallways.
So Jacob Ford thought of a creative way around it. He packed his books in a wicker basket.
When the school said no to that, too, the student soldiered on. Next day he walked into class carrying his belongings inside a microwave oven.
School officials were not amused.
They suspended him for two days, and added kitchen appliances to the list of banned items.
