WORLD Radio - Kicker: An unexpected delay

NICK EICHER, HOST: Drivers ran into an unexpected delay last Thursday in Massachusetts when police shut down a stretch of Route 2 in the town of Templeton.

It seems there was something in the middle of the highway that didn’t belong there—I mean literally in the middle. And police had to call for backup!

They called in state wildlife officials to relocate a family of bears that had set up a den in the median.

Officials first tranquilized the mama bear and relocated her and her cubs to a safer location in a nearby state forest.

The relocation went without a hitch.

Until, that is, state police just couldn’t resist. Had to do it. Had to take to social media to update the public with the equivalent of a dad-joke Twitter hot take: “everything went beary well.”

REICHARD: Unbearable!

EICHER: You know, this is a case where the report just needs to be kept to bear necessities.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
