Kicker: A nasty spill

NICK EICHER, HOST: Remember yesterday I mentioned that Atlanta traffic jam? This is the one that resulted from a highway spill. Of course, it was cash, so drivers were all too happy to volunteer to clean that up.

Well, I want to tell you today about a highway spill that no drivers were eager to clean up.

This was in Kansas City, and when I describe the spill, I think you’ll understand the story a little better.

Three lanes of Interstate 670 closed down because a tractor-trailer hauling—sorry, this is gross—a truck hauling pig intestines dumped its load all over the highway.

Rebecca Stanley was driving behind the rig when it happened. She talked to the local TV station there, KCTV. Here’s what she said.

STANLEY: I’ve had my car cleaned eight times at this point. It was just awful, awful. Brought me to tears it was so bad…

The road crew wound up using a snow plow to clean up the mess. Scott Banes supervised the process.

BARNES: As unpleasant as it was, getting it cleaned up, getting the highway back open was our main goal.

I love the attitude. That’s how you do your job to the glory of God. You put me to shame! Thank you, sir!
