Kicker: A dream come true

NICK EICHER, HOST: Joy Buckley and her husband had long dreamed of being parents.

But doctors told them the statistical probability of Joy’s getting pregnant was less than 15 percent, and that’s after zero success and seven years trying.

So they chose the adoption route to become parents.

But a little less than three years ago, Joy stared down at a pregnancy test.

BUCKLEY: Definitely positive. Bright blue lines all the way across.

Now their first child had a sibling on the way, a healthy, 11-pound baby boy!

REICHARD: Whoa! Big fella!

EICHER: Well, wait ’til you hear this.

Joy got pregnant again, despite even more remote medical odds. But here’s the record breaker, and I’ll put it this way: you know all those onesies they probably received at the baby shower, let’s just say this child’s going to need twosies, maybe threesies. The couple’s baby daughter, Harper, came into the world last week at 15 pounds, 5 ounces.

Here’s Buckley on WETM television.

BUCKLEY: I knew she was going to be big, but I didn’t anticipate no 15 pound baby.

Don’t have this on tape, but she told a reporter she felt as though she’d been hit by two tractor-trailers.

REICHARD: Wowza! Oww!

EICHER: But she said being a mother of three beautiful children really is a dream come true.
