NICK EICHER, HOST: At the Lee Correctional Institution in South Carolina, some inmates were dreaming of a Contraband Christmas.
But a guard there made like Mr. Grinch when he spotted gifts about to be delivered from above — and not by sleigh, I must add. A delivery drone was attempting to drop a holiday bundle: raw steak, crab legs, a tin of Old Bay… as well as cigarettes and other contraband.
A full-on Christmas party that was not to be.
Corrections officials posted photos of the Grinchy intercept. They recovered the drone, too — but haven’t arrested anyone yet.
And a department spokeswoman had the line of the day about the inmates missing their surf-and-turf dinner: she guessed they’re probably a little… crabby.
Now, now. That was her joke. I’m just reporting the news.
