NICK EICHER, HOST: A run to the grocery store in Western Australia turned into a full-on amphibian encounter.

Rhys Smoker was getting dinner ready for friends when he spotted something unexpected inside a sealed bag of lettuce he just bought.

JONES: … you got a pet frog for $1.99! [laughter]

Now, allow me to translate...you see, we Americans and Australians are separated by a common language.

What the friend meant was: Congratulations, mate, you just bought a pet frog for less than a buck and a half!

And there it was: A live frog tucked among the lettuce that he was about to chop up.

JONES:‘Bro, there’s a frog in me lettuce.’ He’s one of the most relaxed Australians you’d ever find.

Reports suggest the group kept that meal fully vegetarian, meaning they set the frog free at a nearby pond after naming him Greg.

So, I’m imagining here if frogs could talk, old Greg telling a story! Remember the time he was enjoying a salad when he almost became the main course.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
