As longtime readers may know, WORLD News Group provides excellent news resources for young students. We provide those resources on several platforms—print, digital, and video, targeted to all ages.

As part of our periodic process of improving our student resources, we surveyed Christian parents to better understand their needs when it comes to using current events in the discipleship of their students. The response surprised us.

The overwhelming response was some form of this: “We don’t know what’s going on, or understand the issues, well enough to discuss them meaningfully with our kids.”

It can’t be that there’s a shortage of news. More like overexposure. Inundation, maybe. It all becomes background noise, mostly static, that many of us tune out. Even if we don’t tune it out, it’s hard to know what’s important and what’s not, and how it all affects us.

Of course, WORLD’s mission is to inform, educate, and inspire parents, not inundate them. We hope our reporting and analysis of current events cuts through the static, rather than contributing to it. Illumination, perhaps, instead of inundation.

You may know some of those parents who need what WORLD provides—a Biblical understanding of events and issues, both global and local, that contributes to clarity rather than confusion. We can’t provide all the answers, but we try to provide a framework for discussion and discipleship.

The good news, pardon the expression, is that it has never been easier to introduce those families to WORLD content. Get them started on The World and Everything in It, our daily news podcast. Send them The Sift, our free daily email newsletter, or our daily email summary of insightful commentary on important issues, Opinions. If they have particular areas of interest, one of our free weekly subject-area emails (Roundups) may fill a need. Or just direct them to our website at wng.org.

Better yet, get them started with one of our subscriptions: A WORLD membership, which includes all digital content plus a print copy of WORLD Magazine, is a surprisingly good value, and even better at our gift-giving price (subscribe.wng.org/equip). A digital-only gift subscription that provides all of that content without the print magazine costs even less. And even though our daily video news product, WORLD Watch, is built for students, many of its most enthusiastic fans are adults. Give it a try (stream free for 30 days at worldwatch.news), then consider giving it to someone you know.

We’re here to make disciples of Christ, just as you are. Our goal is for all of our content to contribute to that end. If it has proven to be helpful to you, consider introducing someone to it.
