A 1992 note from Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy to Justice Harry Blackmun requesting a meeting. Mr. Kennedy told Mr. Blackmun that he was changing a vote and would reaffirm Roe vs. Wade. Chief Justice William Rehnquist at the time was working on what he thought would be a 5-4 opinion to overturn Roe. The Library of Congress released Mr. Blackmun's papers last week.

Killington, Vt., town manager David Lewis on why residents want to secede from Vermont and join New Hampshire. The town voted last week to start the process of requesting the move. Killington residents remain angry about a 1997 Vermont Supreme Court order that raised property taxes on wealthy communities to pay for a new system of financing education.
