New York marathon winner Paul Tergat of Kenya to runner-up Hendrick Ramaala of South Africa, the defending champ, who lost at the finish line last week in the closest race in the marathon's 36-year history. Mr. Tergat holds the world record for the 10,000 meters but lost that event at the tape in the 2000 Olympics by nine-hundredths of a second.
