Texas City, Texas, resident Marion Taylor after an explosion at an oil refinery killed at least 15 people. Texas City was the site of the worst industrial accident in U.S. history when a 1947 blast killed 576 people. Explosions occur, said Ms. Taylor, "from time to time."

"It looked like he was trying to be evil."

Red Lake High School student Cody Thunder on fellow student Jeff Weise's practice of shaping his hair to look as if he had horns. Weise last week killed five students and then himself at the school. Mr. Thunder was shot in the hip.

"There are not any gas price factors that indicate anywhere but up."
