Holocaust survivor and tracker of Nazi war criminals Simon Wiesenthal. Mr. Wiesenthal, who helped find SS leader Adolf Eichmann, died on Sept. 20 at age 96.

"I promised, 'If I go to the United States one day, I'm going to join the Army and try to pay back that beautiful country.'"

Holocaust survivor Tibor Rubin on what he thought as U.S. soldiers liberated him from the Mauthausen concentration camp in May, 1945. Mr. Rubin did join the U.S. Army and was to receive the Medal of Honor on Sept. 23 for saving the lives of U.S. POWs during the Korean war.

Muslim athlete Faris Al-Sultan, who is favored to win this month's Ironman World Championship. Mr. Sultan, a German-Iraqi who supports the war in Iraq, says completing his education is at least as important as winning the endurance race.
