Lawyers filed lawsuits against the Catholic archdiocese of Boston on behalf of 70 more alleged victims of clergy sexual abuse. They bring the total of pending suits against the archdiocese to about 470. One plaintiff said the abuse occurred in 1941. Some claimed they were raped. Many of the suits also allege negligence by clergy supervisors. Meanwhile, lawyers for plaintiffs grilled Cardinal Bernard Law in depositions for days about his role in keeping abusers on the job. And church officials received approval to sell 11 archdiocesan properties expected to net $10 million to $15 million to help settle the victims' claims.
