The new year will feature a new Narnia film, new visions of Alice in Wonderland and Robin Hood, and several action and fantasy adventures. Christians may choose to avoid some of these films, but they will want to be aware of them and their cultural impact during 2010.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Fans worldwide worried they would never get a chance to see another installment of C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia make it to the big screen after Disney dumped the series-despite impressive earnings for the first two films. So it was good news for Christians and movie lovers everywhere when Fox, in conjunction with Walden Media, announced that they would pick up the rights and begin production on Dawn Treader, the third book in the series.

Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their prig of a cousin Eustace Scrubb, return to Narnia to accompany King Caspian as he sails to the strange and mysterious Lone Islands to discover what became of the seven lost lords who were his father's faithful friends. Stars Ben Barnes and Liam Neeson.

The Book of Eli

In a post-apocalyptic world, a lone warrior must protect a lost book of the Bible that holds the key to saving the earth. Stars Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman.

Creation

Genre: BiopicRelease: January 22

Based on the life of Charles Darwin before the publication of On the Origin of Species, Creation depicts both his greatest love in his relationship with his wife and his greatest loss in the death of his child. Promises to reveal the Charles Darwin you never knew. Stars real-life couple Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Based on the best-selling children's series that many are calling "the next Harry Potter." Twelve-year-old Percy discovers that he is a demigod, the son of Poseidon and a mortal woman. While attending "Camp Half-Blood," a school for the offspring of classic Greek and Roman deities, Percy must battle the titans of Olympus to retrieve Zeus' stolen lighting bolt. Shutter Island

The latest film by Martin Scorsese, follows two U.S. marshals as they investigate the disappearance of a murderess at a sanitarium for the criminally insane located on a remote island. Stars Leonardo DiCaprio.

Alice in Wonderland

Genre: FantasyRelease: March 5

Long-awaited Tim Burton project, takes Lewis Carroll's beloved children's story and imagines what might happen if a 19-year-old Alice were to take a second trip down the rabbit hole, reuniting with the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and the rest. Stars Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska.

Clash of the Titans

Genre: FantasyRelease: March 19

A remake of a 1981 hit, Perseus, son of Zeus, travels to forbidden worlds and battles fearsome beasts to save his family from Hades and prevent him from taking control of Earth and unleashing Hell upon humanity. Stars Sam Worthington (Avatar) and Ralph Fiennes.

Babies

Genre: DocumentaryRelease: April 16

Follows the birth and first years of four babies from San Francisco, Tokyo, Mongolia, and Namibia, endeavoring to show the joy of new life and the early experiences that are "at once unique and universal to us all."

Robin Hood

Genre: AdventureRelease: May 14

Director Ridley Scott's latest, promises to present a new spin on the classic medieval folk hero and his band of merry men. Stars Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Bella, Edward, and Jacob return to the big screen in the third adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling series. Despicable Me

Eat, Pray, Love

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 1

The second to the last of the Potter film franchise, encompasses the first half of J.K. Rowling's final book. Harry, Ron, and Hermione leave Hogwarts and begin the final steps to defeating Lord Voldemort in a story that has been called the most symbolically Christian of Rowling's series. Red Dawn

In a remake of the 1984 cult favorite that is known as a "conservative classic," the United States is invaded by Communist forces, though this time the attackers are Chinese rather than Soviet. A band of teenagers still commits to fight for freedom regardless of the cost.
