More than 40 reasons to be grateful

Yesterday my mother and I worked on a seven-page form she has to fill out for a new specialist she will be seeing. One page was a long list of symptoms, with instructions to check off the ones she had:

Fever Fatigue Night sweats Headaches Earaches Hearing loss Ringing in ears Blurred or double vision Eyes itching or discharging Eyes sensitive to light Sinus problems Hoarseness Runny nose Post nasal drip Hay fever Dry eyes or mouth Loss of taste or smell Heartburn or indigestion Bad breath or taste in mouth Loss of appetite Weight loss Difficulty swallowing Choking during meals Nausea or vomiting Abdominal pain Diarrhea Constipation Black stools Blood in stools Jaundice Swelling of ankles Fingers turn white and are painful in cold Joint pain Muscle aches Leg cramps when walking Chest pains Irregular or rapid heartbeat Excessive bleeding Easy bruising Seizures Dizziness, faintness, or loss of consciousness Numbness Shortness of breath at rest Wheezing Unable to sleep lying flat Cough persisting more than one week Coughing up blood

By the end of the list my mother and I felt great! We prayed together, thanking God for all the bad things we could have that we don't have.

"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits" (Psalm 103:2).
