‘Terror by the minute’

The transition of radical Islamists from terror to conquest is a stunning revelation. Thank you for pointing it out. May we in this country find leadership soon.

‘The evidence we want’

Like Joel Belz, I decry any attempt to deny people the right to practice Islam. But where is the example of a healthy, productive, peaceful, and attractive society under that banner? The assertion that all religions and cultures are equal now makes some people look foolish.

Stewart Simms / Bogart, Ga.

The good news is that many Muslims are coming to Christ, and some verses in the Quran can lead them in that direction.

don sutton on wng.org

Well said. And why don’t the outspoken proponents of Islam move to Muslim-controlled countries? The answer is obvious.

Doug Wright / Renton, Wash.

I agree with Belz’s point, but, having lived with Muslims, I would add that the majority are common folk working hard to support their families and live peaceful lives. Christian media often focus on the extremists, and I am afraid that inoculates the church against building redemptive relationships with Muslims.

‘The “Je suis Charlie” moment’

If 3,000 killed on 9/11 was not enough to get people serious about defeating Islamofacism, an attack on an obscure magazine will not do it either. In a few months people will be talking about something else while terrorists plot their next attacks.

robert wuster on wng.org

It is a war, a world war. When those people meet the true God, they will see no virgins, just darkness.

michael dunkirk on wng.org

Thank you for making lots of sense, and for your call to offensive anti-Islamic-jihadist action.

Randy Calvelli / Hartville, Ohio

‘Thermopylae on the way’

How can I not, at every opportunity, stand against that which I know will be so destructive? It is my duty to those who will be hurt the most to hold out as long as possible.

dakotamissions on wng.org

This all began with no-fault divorce. We let our marriage commitments become watered down to a level that matches our desires. We went with the crowd.

peter allen on wng.org

Just dynamite! Now I’m trying to figure out the best way to share this with my congregation. Oh, it’ll preach!

Jon Karn / Montrose, Calif.

‘A poor weapon’

I agree. Even Fox News failed to get this point, that freedom of the press is not an absolute value.

W. Robert Shade III / Lakewood, Colo.

Well said. The contrast between Muhammad and Jesus Christ is becoming more and more evident, praise God.

‘Wings and a prayer’

As a commercial pilot with 25 years of flight experience, I believe that reliance on automation has indeed caused a significant decrease in the majority of commercial pilots’ ability to fly with confidence and accuracy.

Glenn Chapman / Poplar Grove, Ill.

Excellent article. Sure, those gadgets decreased my workload as an airline pilot, but I could fly the airplane as well as the gadgets.

Wayne C. Boyd / Leavenworth Kan.

‘The serpent’s egg’

Great piece. And I applaud Andrée Seu Peterson for knowing Shakespeare well enough to make the connection between the serpent’s egg and the situation in France that festered for decades.

Barry Bertram / Campbellsville, Ky.

We need to learn from the effect of large populations of Muslims in France and elsewhere. I don’t know how we will protect ourselves from this happening here unless we recognize that all religions are not equally good.

‘Kennedy’s way’

We have been told relentlessly that the debate over homosexuality is a repeat of the racial civil rights struggle. All races benefited from that struggle, so shouldn’t the Supreme Court rule that those of all sexual orientations, such as pedophiles, are entitled to equal protection? Would Justice Kennedy and his kin be willing to let their “legacy” rest on anything but equal rights for all?

Jerry T. Cowan / Middletown, Pa.

‘Direct hit’

I read American Sniper and saw the movie. I sat in tears until the end of the credits out of respect for the sacrifices of these heroes. Chris Kyle was often profane, but he respected his fellow man in a way that few outside the military understand. The movie got it right.

‘Longer lives’

World Health Organization statistics indicate the heart diseases WORLD cited caused 17.2 million deaths out of 56 million worldwide in 2012. WHO also reported that in 2008 there were 43.8 million abortions, making the killing of unborn babies the leading cause of death in the world. That should horrify us all.

Gregory Poulos / Palm Bay, Fla.

‘Tunnel vision’

The cost of a high-school football game is not the admission but the increased health insurance premiums. A single game can easily rack up $25,000 in medical bills, never mind the long-term effects of these injuries. Our national obsession with high-impact collisions is costing us dearly on several fronts.

‘Joyful noise maker’

Articles like this one about Andraé Crouch are why I like WORLD so much. It brought back memories of standing in makeshift amphitheaters of open fields during Jesus festivals in the mid-’70s, clapping and jumping and praising while Andraé played the piano and The Disciples belted out the vocals. Yes, you certainly did “Take Me Back.”

Lamont Wade / Richmond, Va.

‘Union demands’

The shenanigans of the teachers unions get more and more creative each year, so I’m glad you reported on this case. Also, I’m a plaintiff in Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association. If the Supreme Court agrees to hear it and we win, it would reverse the 1977 Abood decision that lets unions collect “fair share” fees or force religious objectors to donate money to an outside group.

Karen Cuen / Fullerton, Calif.

‘The last shall be dead?’

Thank you for keeping the journalistic pressure on BioLogos. The Discovery Institute scholars and the Intelligent Design philosophers and scientists are the real warriors against the prevailing evolutionary paradigm.

Randy Martin / Bakersfield, Calif.

‘I kissed Fox goodbye’

I was addicted to Fox News, but recently took Marvin Olasky’s challenge to quit and get my news from WORLD. It’s working! Breaking news worth seeing is rare, so it clears the head to be able to focus. And kudos for WORLD; the reporting is timely, the technology is really good, and the magazine is snazzy and informative.

Bill Peck / Abingdon, Md.
