‘Losing their shirts’
The Gay and Lesbian Services Organization of Lexington brought its “economic loss” on itself. Real diversity training might teach its members respect for others’ differences and give them a reason to accept the offer another business made to print their shirts for free.
Rebekah R. Arnold / Vidalia, Ga.
It seems as though adherence to nonheterosexual orientation is fast becoming our national religion. American citizens are losing the liberty to choose not to worship at its altar.
Brenda Paternostro / Aliso Viejo, Calif.
Jesus said, “If the world hated me, it will also hate you.” Thankfully that’s not the end of the story. Our true hope lies in His return in power and glory to set all things right as at the beginning.

Homosexual behavior is biologically unnatural, medically unhealthy, and biblically immoral. When they accept these realities, homosexual people will be able to deal with their sexual disorder realistically instead of blaming their problems on those of us who refuse to join their fantasy world.

‘Evangelical shell shock’
WORLD is correct not to take away the Daniel of the Year award from Alan Chambers. Rather than shooting our wounded, let’s hold him up in prayer, and pray that all the brave bakers and photographers might stand fast.
Dick Dickerson / Mechanicsville, Va.
From now until the end, “because of the increase of wickedness,” we must heed Jesus’ warning in Matthew 12 that “the love of most will grow cold.” He asks us to stand firm to the end, but that gets harder every single day.
Elaine Neumeyer / Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.
This column reminded of the most important thing: prayer. The “tolerance police” have become exactly what they judged: the most intolerant people around. There, but for the grace of God, go we all.
Elisabeth Bodey / Urbana, Ohio
We need to be prepared to suffer; that is what Jesus promised. We can hope things will get better, but they probably won’t. I pray that we, including our brothers and sisters in the Middle East, will rejoice if we suffer for His name.
Darlene Estlow on wng.org
The hard truth is that American Christians were blessed with a 200-300 year reprieve. The norm for the vast majority of Christians throughout history is persecution, oppression, trial, hardship, and deprivation. Plenty of Christians are going through it today. Thank the Lord that our assurance is in Christ.

‘Shaken family’
Thanks to Daniel James Devine for bringing these situations to light. Josh Burns’ story closely parallels that of a friend, Audrey Edmunds, who spent 11 years in prison before her conviction was overturned. The most heart-wrenching part of her story is that she missed out on years of raising her daughters.
Lois Carlson / Grantsburg, Wis.
Some government agencies are completely out of control on this issue, but this case is proof that we make a difference when we don’t idly sit by.

‘Raw deal’
Yes, there are risks in drinking raw milk, but people have been drinking it for thousands of years. Now that we have good standards of hygiene for its production, it’s illegal? The benefits are well worth the risk.
Becky Werner / Webster, Fla.
Pasteurization kills good bacteria that fight illness as well as bad bacteria that cause it. If people prefer to use raw dairy products for health reasons, that should be their choice and not up to the government.
Dorothy Rusch / Jackson, Wis.
‘The wrong train’
Excellent column. Christians must speak truth boldly and warn all who oppose truth that God will bring them under judgment for every careless word, but they should not petition the government to enact laws to restrict speech.

‘Building on a legacy’
Paul Northrup, former missionary to Cuba, stated, “Cuban Christians are more dedicated to Christ because the risk of serving Him is greater.” Maybe more “risk” is what is required in the United States to bring this nation back to Christian faith and values.
Dave Dahlke / Port Orchard, Wash.
I know several people who have been sharing the gospel in Cuba for years and have continued to do so even after the announcement by President Obama. They are a special breed indeed and speak boldly to those who have never heard.
John Monroe on wng.org
‘Brain scam’
Worldly scientists cannot accept that we are anything more than a collection of parts, just like any other bolt, tree, or squirrel. To do so would shatter their entire worldview. The source of life is miraculous, and no one can stumble into it.
Greg Samson / Coeur D’Alene, Idaho
‘Sabrina’s fable’
Thank you for showing how some journalists try to make their own reality. Such writing erodes journalistic integrity. If this continues, reading the news will be just like reading a novel.
Andy Scholes / Dayton, Ohio
‘California’s drought denial’
Many issues for California farmers go back to poor water management decisions the environmental lobby has pushed in recent decades. That said, perhaps the farmers could look to Israel for answers. Water is scarce there as well, yet that nation is blessed with thriving vegetable farms and orchards because the Israelis take water conservation very seriously.
Steve Mitchell on wng.org
‘Hurt feelings’
Perhaps people’s feelings of decreased health are caused by factors such as widespread chemical and pharmaceutical use. The problem may not be a sissified culture, but a chemically saturated one.
‘WORLD around the world’
My mother had so much fun finding her photo in WORLD! She forgot that we took the picture in February. She thought that person in the photo looked familiar, and then that the surroundings looked awfully familiar. When she saw it was in Sebring, she was flabbergasted to realize it was her!
Frances Beaty / Sebring, Ohio

‘It’s no mystery’
Amen! Muslims are loved by God but deceived by an ideology that is straight out of hell and smells like smoke. Islam, like Communism and Fascism, claims to usher in a utopia but delivers only horror and death and oppression. But Jesus came “that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
Greg Browning on wng.org
‘Battle ready’
It was fascinating to read Mindy Belz’s report from Iraq about these heroes who are holding the line against ISIS while politicians often dilly-dally. Now our prayers can be specific for the Kurds, Christians, and local militia there, as well as for the civilians.
Mary Jo Dawson / Trinidad, Colo.
