‘Jungle cowboys’
March 19 | This well-written piece made me thankful for the stability of our country and for the bravery of Christian families who give their lives to help those who are suffering. And as a fellow “urban princess,” I have a lot of respect for Sophia Lee’s part in this adventure.
—Lucy Bauer on wng.org
I have been to Burma many times and am brokenhearted at the way many of the minority tribal groups are treated.
Kenneth Cole on wng.org
‘Divide and conquer’
March 19 | If Donald Trump is the Republican Party’s nominee, I will end my connection to the party. How could anyone with reasonable convictions support Trump? He is not fit for the office of the president.
—Todd Taylor / Riverside County, Calif.
I have appreciated WORLD holding Trump to a biblical standard, but not voting or writing in a candidate is effectively a vote for Hillary Clinton. We must choose the lesser of two evils, and a ruptured Republican Party will never again provide a bulwark against the liberal Democratic agenda.
—Brian Moyer / Stoughton, Wis.
Adultery, lies, hypocrisy, but most of all blasphemy; how can any Christian vote for Trump when he has done all the above and bragged about it?
Bob Nudelman / Cape Coral, Fla.
‘The TOP gospel’
March 19 | An outstanding review on the religion of the current GOP front-runner explaining what true Christianity entails and what is sadly lacking in the religion of Trump.
—Dave Dahlke / Port Orchard, Wash.
If the polls showing so many evangelicals voting for Trump are accurate, there are far more tares among the wheat than I imagined. But just as God used Balaam and his talking donkey to bless His people, He can use Trump for His good purposes.
—Ruth Meek on wng.org
Republicans elected to uphold the Constitution failed miserably to do so. We’re about to see an oligarchy, controlled by special interests and lobbying groups, get smashed. Maybe with Trump we’ll get a government that strengthens the Constitution and works for the people, instead of the opposite.
—Lisa Shin / Los Alamos, N.M.
The best part of this column is the conclusion that God desires a broken heart and a turning to the Christ who died for us. God is not impressed by our accomplishments.
—Dick Dickerson / Mechanicsville, Va.
I’ve grown weary of WORLD’s criticism of Trump. It seems you write more negatively about him than the Democratic candidates. Let’s focus on the issues and support the Republican candidate whoever he is.
—Charles Cain / Arlington, Texas
‘Trumping Liberty’
March 19 | My wife and I have two 17-year-olds, and we were thinking seriously about Liberty University. While we love the scholarship of professors like Dr. Gary Habermas, we were absolutely dismayed by Jerry Falwell Jr.’s endorsement of Trump. We now view Falwell as a sellout.
—Gary Brown / Edmond, Okla.
I do not always agree with Trump’s style or crude language, but he is intimidating to the intimidators: the press, the politically correct, race-baiters, cop-haters, feminists, and communists. They will do anything to keep him out.
—Bill Buchalter on wng.org
So Falwell wants a businessman, not a pastor, for president. We went through this before when cultural leaders argued Bill Clinton’s character did not matter, just the outcomes of his presidency.
—Sven Trenholm on wng.org
Jerry Sr. would have been very disappointed.

‘Two outhouses’
March 19 | So, under the new law in Charlotte, if my 10-year-old daughter goes into one of these mixed-up bathrooms, other men dressed up as women can go in there and do their thing alongside her, but I’m not allowed to go in there with her because I know my gender? Please God, don’t let this be true.
—Todd Finch on wng.org
The whole LGBTQ debate is a way to mock God’s created order in the public square. Satan is having a good old time twisting reality into legal knots that no lawyer can untie.
—Rick Flanders on wng.org
‘Happy warriors’
March 19 | After reading this column a second time, I said to myself, “This is why I love WORLD.” Thanks to Mindy Belz and the rest of the staff for interpreting current events in light of Scripture.
—Rich Walton / Asheville, N.C.
‘Dead-end revolutions’
March 19 | I was born in 1946 and saw the “revolution” unfold on our campus, Miami University of Ohio. Anarchy reigned and tear gas filled the night air as we left the library at closing. You captured the spirit perfectly. My generation was and is a mess.
—Fred McHargue / Hedgesville, W.Va.
‘The Young Messiah’
March 19 | Any fictional account of the life of Christ will always be making Christ into the image of the author. If you want to know the real Christ, stick to Scripture.
—Larry Gehman / Brownsburg, Ind.
‘Teetotal motherhood’
March 19 | I have two adopted children with fetal alcohol syndrome. Believe me, not drinking at all would be a small sacrifice to prevent a lifetime of heartbreak.
—Jan Whearty on wng.org
‘Drawn to drawings’
March 19 | I enjoy coloring and doing pencil art. The artist in us is part of the image of God in us; it shows the ability and desire to find the limits of our creativity.
Brendan Bossard on wng.org
‘Children’s books’
March 5 | While The War That Saved My Life is a picture of grace, the reasons not to buy this book for one's children include depictions of child abuse, depression, and a negative view of the mother/child relationship.
Kate Goldsmith / Bosque Farms, N.M.
‘Upside-down headship’
March 5 | Truly, men need a repentant heart and a servant's attitude toward their wives, but what about the other side of that coin, the critical, nagging, quarrelsome wife addressed in Proverbs and other Scriptures?
Shaun Colton / Rowlett, Texas
‘A time for plain speaking’
January 23 | Never before your Jan. 23 issue have I cried upon seeing the cover, an illustration of an infant with each quadrant of her body given a price. Planned Parenthood, despite its apparent invincibility, will be defeated for Jesus has already "overcome the world.” Thank you for such an informed, evocative issue, and may we forever fight to defend the defenseless.
Sarah Eby, 17 / Farmington Hills, Mich.
