‘Unfit for power’
Oct. 29 | I supported Donald Trump, believing that he will be better for American freedom and liberty than Hillary Clinton, but I don’t worry about the results. God is sovereign and raised up the person to accomplish His purposes.
—Rich Steele / Smithfield, Va.
I must respectfully disagree with your call for Trump to step aside. This election was about the future of our country. Our very freedoms were at stake. Clearly, the Republican platform is much closer to Biblical principles than the Democratic platform. May God stay His hand, and bless America.
—Terry Johnson / Daniel Island, S.C.
One candidate was a criminal and the other crude, but this term the president will likely appoint at least two Supreme Court justices. Out of concern for America’s future I held my nose and voted “crude.”
—Bill Bathman / Mesa, Ariz.
Some chose to believe that either major-party candidate might actually do what he or she promised; it appears those hopes are baseless. The American people deserve better. The editors of WORLD deserve our thanks for pointing out how we might have obtained better even at that late date.
—Joseph Corrao / Fredericksburg, Va.
WORLD is one of the biggest facilitators of the Antichrist’s kingdom. Trump may not be perfect, but he is the only person with the means and courage to stand up against the Antichrist’s kingdom! And, by the way, most if not all of the accusations against him are false! And, the polls were false! Repent, you whores of Babylon!
—Daniel Reichenberg / Monument, Colo.
Trump is not a deliverer by any standard, but Clinton stands for the things of which nightmares are made.
—Bruce K. Langford / Rainbow City, Ala.
I’m glad to see WORLD and a few other Christian voices standing by their principles rather than taking the pragmatic, anyone-but-Hillary stance. Living up to your standard of Biblical objectivity will cost you readers, but I will support WORLD that much more vigorously.
—Chris Bradley / Colorado Springs, Colo.
Well, you finally did it. This “hate Trump” issue is in the wastebasket. Do what you will with my subscription.
—Lois Stearns / Wells, Minn.
I voted for Mike Pence and the Republican platform. Trump reminds me of Nebuchadnezzar, but Clinton reminds me of Jezebel. Her corruption is colossal.
—Christine Crachi / Canton, Ga.
I could not in good conscience vote for either Clinton or Trump. The election of either shames the nation. Voting out of fear of Clinton did not reflect faith in God, and endorsing Trump sent the wrong message about what Christians stand for and deeply damages our testimony. America’s future is in God’s hands, and the only hope lies in repentance, prayer, and obedience.
—Russell Board / Saitama, Japan
I was astounded, amazed, and just mad at your cover story. Did you want Satan in control, a liberal Supreme Court, and the crooked politicians to win? Immediately, please, cancel my subscription.
—Paul J. Eby / Dickson, Tenn.
For WORLD to tell Trump it is time to step aside was to vote for Clinton and her satanic agenda. May God have mercy on your souls. I voted with my money last week after reading this piece: I canceled my subscription.
—Andy Kenagy / San Antonio, Texas
Please DO NOT cancel my subscription! I appreciate how WORLD stood boldly for righteousness in this perfect storm that revealed where our faith really lies: politics. Those who, gripped by palpable fear and panic, cursed their brothers and sisters with whom they disagree should remember to “fix our eyes on Jesus.”
—Gary Brown / Edmond, Okla.
I am disconcerted by your article but will not cancel my subscription. Although I feel strongly about this issue, we have much more in common than what we disagree upon. Besides, healthy arguments can be beneficial.
—Marc Seeger / Evanston, Ill.
‘Mediadictablanda’
Oct. 29 | Marvin Olasky noted that progressive journalists who think more broadly must learn to self-censor “if they wish to rise.” Isn’t that also the issue for Christians? Do we live according to the power and principles of this world? Do we “wish to rise,” or do we speak truth into darkness? Our citizenship is in heaven, and we are in enemy-controlled territory.
—Steve Shive on wng.org
‘The way they should go’
Oct. 29 | Homeschooling has evolved; goodbye denim jumpers, hello skinny pants! Shiny curricula, well-spoken gurus, and fun extracurricular activities abound. It is easy to feel overwhelmed, and then burnout sets in.
—Racheal Ankeny / Nampa, Idaho
‘A Darwinian affair’
Oct. 29 | It’s a lie that evolution has programmed women to have affairs. Infidelity is a choice, and to suggest it is not deprives people of hope and eliminates responsibility and accountability. Guilt is the good and right response to sin, and hope is found in repentance.
—Rachel Topham on Facebook
‘Life in the bush’
Oct. 29 | Sophia Lee’s upbeat story about her trip to Alaska and the people she met was refreshing. Some of us need to be reminded of the joy-filled people and families who quietly share the love of Christ with their neighbors, day in and day out.
—Paula Krause / Eden Prairie, Minn.
‘Our great big hope’
Oct. 15 | Marvin Olasky’s column on Leonard Cohen, along with the illustration, made a great back page and reminded me of why I am a fan. No other publication quite matches WORLD’s hat trick of cultural awareness, good writing, and hopeful sanity in each issue.
—Joseph Martin / Montreat, N.C.
Clarification
All land in Hong Kong (except that on which St. John’s Cathedral stands) is owned by the Chinese government, but wealthy private purchasers, by signing long-term leases for up to 999 years, are considered “land owners” (“Keeping Hong Kong free,” Oct. 29, 2016).

‘Unfit for power’
Oct. 29 | I do not like Trump; I dislike Clinton more. I blame the Republican Party for placing us in this position. I am not sure what all I will get with Trump, but I might get some of what I believe in. I know what I will get from Clinton, and I dislike it all.
—Denis Shelley / Daytona Beach, Fla.
It is obvious your mission was to elect Clinton. We have enjoyed your magazine for years but no longer trust you. Please cancel our subscription.
—Ron Gamble / Kent, Wash.
While we must exercise Christian charity toward brothers and sisters in Christ who favor Trump (and vice versa), we must still have the courage to state that we cannot vote for the man. Let’s take courage and contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints, stand for righteousness in the political arena, and rejoice in the future Messianic reign of the Lord Jesus Christ.
—Maxine Rider / Long Lake, N.Y.
I am appalled. This editorial wasn't brave, it was self-righteous.
—Katy Landers / Wenatchee, Wash.
There should have been photographs of both candidates with calls for both to step aside. Are Trump and Hillary the best this country has to offer for the presidency? I think not! These two are truly a reflection of this country’s total, wanton moral decline.
—Todd Taylor / Riverside, Calif.
