Kasab verdict

May 3: An Indian court will hand down a verdict on Mohammad Ajmal Kasab-hopefully closing the book on the deadly 60-hour terrorist attack in Mumbai in November 2008. Kasab has been accused of being one of the 10 terrorists who went on a 2½ day attack that killed 166 people at two five-star hotels, a railway station, a Jewish center, and a hospital. Nine of the 10 suspects were killed during the spree and Kasab has confessed to the killings.

Elections 2010

May 4: State primaries kick into full gear with primaries in Indiana, North Carolina, and Ohio-three states that have proved to be presidential year election battlegrounds. Ohio has a potentially tight governor's race while Democrats in North Carolina today choose in a three-way runoff a candidate to go against incumbent Republican Sen. Richard Burr.

National Day of Prayer?

May 6: Maybe there will be a National Day of Prayer in 2010; maybe there won't. A federal judge in Wisconsin ruled the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional because it violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. But events scheduled nationwide are likely to happen anyway, with the case possibly on its way to the Supreme Court.

Laura Bush unplugged

May 6: Former first lady Laura Bush will sit down with ABC News political analyst Cokie Roberts for a lengthy interview discussing her life and times as first lady. The interview is scheduled to air at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Brits to the polls

May 6: Voters today elect members of the U.K.'s House of Commons. Few expect Britain's Labour Party to emerge triumphant for its fourth consecutive term, as opinion polls show David Cameron and the Conservative Party with a lead, and Liberal Democrats gaining. But with 12 parties vying for seats, and voter disenchantment high, particularly after living under a cloud of ash, the election could produce upsets.

Middle-aged Pill

May 9: On this day 50 years ago, the Food and Drug Administration first approved birth control pills for general distribution. The birth control method had broad medical impacts, but perhaps broader cultural ones-making the cover of Time magazine in 1967. By 1968, Pope Paul VI denounced birth control in the encyclical Humanae Vitae.
