Turtle Power will be back in box offices today as the Michael Bay–produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot hits theaters. Like the 2007 film, the 2014 film will feature heavy reliance on computer-generated images rather than the puppetry from the original films or the animation from the original series.

Aug. 10

Turks head to the polls today to cast ballots for their nation’s president. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, term-limited as premier, hopes to take over Turkey’s presidency and then expand the office’s power. If opinion polls are any indication, Erdogan’s prospects look good, even after suffering a bumpy 2013.

Aug. 10

The 2014 PGA Championship winds down with a final round today from the Louisville, Ky., Valhalla Golf Club. The last time the PGA held the championship at Valhalla (2000), a still-young Tiger Woods held onto a Sunday lead to take home the title. Woods, who has struggled with back problems and hasn’t won a major championship since 2008, is expected to play.

Aug. 12

Disney fans with Blu-ray players won’t want to miss this date: Today the entertainment giant plans to release five films onto the ultra high definition format for the first time. Starting Aug. 12 Disney fans can pick up copies of Hercules, Tarzan, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers on Blu-ray.

Aug. 13

Phone maker Samsung plans to release its new Galaxy F smartphone today to compete against Apple’s iPhone 5 and forthcoming iPhone 6. Samsung handsets are Apple’s biggest competitor in the smartphone market. And the Galaxy F—which ultimately may be known as the Galaxy S5 Prime or Galaxy Alpha—is purported to feature an all-metal case to appeal to iPhone owners.
