Dec. 7
Americans have until today to sign up for 2015 health insurance coverage from the government through either Medicare or healthcare exchanges created by the Affordable Care Act. Obama administration officials promise a smoother experience on Healthcare.gov this year than in 2013.
Dec. 8
Prince William’s trip to the United States will take him to Washington, D.C., where the Duke of Cambridge will participate in a conference against the illegal trade of wildlife parts. Prince William and wife Kate Middleton also plan to head to New York where the royal couple will visit charities and museums and take in a New York Knicks game. The pair arrive on Dec. 7 and will depart for the United Kingdom on Dec. 9.
Dec. 10
Sheriffs from across the United States plan to march in Washington, D.C., today in protest of President Barack Obama’s executive action on illegal immigration. Event organizer Sheriff Thomas Hodgson of Bristol County, Mass., said he hopes news of the Sheriff’s March will inspire a flood of grassroots participation.
Dec. 12
The most recent short-term deal to fund the federal government expires Dec. 12, creating a deadline for Congress and the president to agree on a deal to avoid a government shutdown. Congressional Republican leaders insist they will make every effort to pass a continuing resolution to avert a crisis.
Dec. 19
Craig Ferguson will tape his final episode of CBS’ Late Late Show. The television veteran and Scottish immigrant has said that the rigors of a daily talk show caused him to relinquish the popular program after 10 years. Known for his imaginative monologues, Ferguson’s final guest will be former Tonight Show host Jay Leno. English actor and comedian James Corden will step in for Ferguson.
