Moonbuggy races
Students from around the world will gather in Huntsville, Ala., to compete in NASA's Great Moonbuggy Race on April 1. The 84 teams of high-school and college students attending the two-day event will compete for cash prizes by racing prototype moonbuggies around a 0.7-mile course constructed to simulate the Moon's surface.
White House Easter Egg Roll
An estimated 35,000 people will join President Barack Obama and family on the lawn of the White House for the annual Easter Egg Roll the day after Easter. But money can't buy you a way in: Tickets for the April 9 event will be distributed via an online lottery system.
Norwegian trial
Accused killer Anders Behring Breivik will stand trial April 10 for a July 11, 2011, bomb attack and subsequent shooting rampage that left 77 dead and 151 wounded in Norway. But because Norway has no provisions for a death penalty or even life imprisonment, Breivik could again one day be a free man.
White House cooking
First Lady Michelle Obama's cookbook debuts April 10 at bookstores across the country. Titled American Grown: How the White House Kitchen Garden Inspires Families, Schools, and Communities, the first lady's foray into the cookbook world fits hand-in-glove with her anti-obesity initiatives.
Rock honors
Guns N' Roses and the Red Hot Chili Peppers headline a host of inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 14. The 27th annual induction ceremony will take place at the site of the Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
Titanic anniversary
A century ago on April 14, the supposedly unsinkable Titanic struck an iceberg that would cause it to sink in the North Atlantic Ocean hours later on April 15, killing 1,500. Museums in Branson, Mo., and Pigeon Forge, Tenn., will commemorate the day with ceremonies. Meanwhile, a U.S. Coast Guard cutter will drop 1.5 million rose petals at the site of the Titanic's sinking.
