Letter from an aborted child

For 20 years, Father Stephen Lesniewski has been counseling women outside abortion clinics in the Chicago area and elsewhere, encouraging them to choose life for their babies. A few years ago Lesniewski came up with a new approach for talking to pregnant women who were considering abortion.

He wrote what he called a "Letter from an Aborted Child," had it recorded being read by a young boy, and made CDs. To those willing to stop and talk to him, Lesniewski would give them a copy of the letter and a CD player, asking them to listen to it before entering the clinic.

Here's a small portion of the letter:

"I remember very well the moment that separated me from the most beautiful living paradise; the moment that a machine detached me from my mother's womb. . . . I remember very well thinking to myself, 'Why are you, the most beautiful woman in the world, the one with a loving heart and full of tenderness, doing this?'. . . I just wanted to be born, to fill you with kisses, hugs and tell you that you were the best mother in the world. . . . Mama, I only want to tell you that I forgive you and I love you."

According to a report at LifeSiteNews.com, Lesniewski estimates that the "Letter" has saved more than 500 babies. So he decided to make a video, which was released on YouTube this past Sunday, in the hope that more lives would be saved.

No doubt, many people will call the video, To Be Born, corny and hokey. I found it moving and can understand how it could well change minds and hearts. And I pray that it does. It runs about 12 minutes without credits (see below).

(Note that the video carries the following warning: "ATTENTION: This film contains scenes depicting blood and harsh violence, and may not be appropriate for young audiences or sensitive viewers.")
