Founded by German immigrants in 1894, St. Paul United Church of Christ is a small and active rural congregation. The church building, located on a hill six miles north of Marlin in Falls County, Texas, was rebuilt in 1920 to replace the original structure damaged by lightning in 1914. Former Pastor Lawrence G. Felice states that members "have a real identity in that local area. They can tell you not only who lives in that house now, but who lived there over the years, and who built it. These are people that when they give you directions, it's names of So-and-So's hill and such-and-such and it's nothing on the map."
