Hating the light
California seeks to criminalize undercover videos like the ones that exposed Planned Parenthood
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them” (Ephesians 5:11).
The California state legislature passed a bill that would make it a crime to do what the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) did to expose what a “healthcare provider” like Planned Parenthood does with the body parts of the babies its abortionists kill. Will Gov. Jerry Brown sign it into law?
The bill reads in part:
“A person who violates subdivision (a) of Section 632 shall be punished pursuant to subdivision (b) if the person intentionally discloses or distributes, in any manner, in any forum, including, but not limited to, Internet Web sites and social media, or for any purpose, the contents of a confidential communication with a health care provider that is obtained by that person in violation of subdivision (a) of Section 632.”
Were some of the people working in that cold place of death embarrassed when CMP began releasing secretly recorded videos last year that showed abortionists discussing the sale of the body parts of aborted babies? How about when Planned Parenthood executive Deborah Nucatola sipped wine and ate salad while talking to undercover operatives about aborted babies’ hearts, lungs, and livers?
“For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed,” Jesus said. “But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
Planned Parenthood sued CMP and its founder, David Daleiden. A grand jury in Texas indicted Daleiden and colleague Sandra Merritt on felony charges for using fake IDs and misdemeanor charges of trying to buy body parts. The government eventually dropped all charges. But Daleiden’s vindication hasn’t stopped Planned Parenthood from attempting to stop the world from knowing what it does with discarded human beings. We have a right to know how the abortion mill spends our money and should have a right to block such funding.
Daleiden’s vindication hasn’t stopped Planned Parenthood from attempting to stop the world from knowing what it does with discarded human beings.Planned Parenthood and the California state legislature want to send a strong message to anyone who dares expose more grotesque activities in these abortion centers. Regardless, CMP’s efforts have been invaluable. Planned Parenthood is under scrutiny, and some abortion advocates must be as disgusted as pro-lifers. To kill tiny human beings and pick through their discarded tissue to “donate” portions is shameful. No law will eliminate that scrutiny or disgust. Pro-lifers don’t need undercover videos like Daleiden’s to bolster their case for protecting defenseless unborn babies. But every revelation helps the cause.
Christians and other pro-lifers must continue to shine a light on what Planned Parenthood does. He who loves the truth comes to the light, Jesus said, “so that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
