Globe Trot: Europe on high alert after Nice attack
Authorities are treating the incident as terrorism
FRANCE: At least 84 people have been killed after a truck mowed down a mile-long beachfront promenade of Bastille Day revelers in coastal Nice. Authorities are treating the incident as a terrorist attack after shooting and killing the French-Tunisian driver, who was carrying arms and explosives.
France, Spain, and other countries have gone on high alert. Earlier today, the Nice airport was evacuated, but passengers were soon let back into the terminal and flights began arriving and departing as usual.
Two Americans on a family vacation were killed in the attack, Texan Sean Copeland and his 11-year-old son, with no Americans yet identified among the injured.
