Sen. Barack Obama today mocked Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin for their charges in recent days that Obama wants to take the country in a socialist direction.
"They've found evidence," he has joked at several stops, "that when I was a child I shared some of my toys with my playmates and that at lunch time I also shared part of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with one of my friends."
If Obama still doesn't know the difference between his choosing to share what is his, on the one hand, and the federal government's determining that it's his duty to share what's his, on the other hand, then-as McCain has said repeatedly-he really isn't ready for the office of president.
Nor is the United States ready for a man who is glib about profoundly important issues.
