Creative responses to gay pressure

I’d like help from you and other readers in learning about creative ways Christians are responding to the gay lobby’s offensive. We at WORLD support and honor Christian photographers, bakers, florists, etc., who are standing on First Amendment rights by refusing to take part in same-sex wedding ceremonies. But we’d also like to find out about Christians who are choosing other ways to respond.

For example, I can imagine a Christian photographer accepting a same-sex wedding commission and using the opportunity to evangelize. He could ask guests in a loving way if they know Jesus. He could explain that through Christ all our sins can be forgiven.

I can imagine a Christian photographer saying, “I’ll take the job and produce photos that are aesthetically pleasing, but I don’t consider two guys kissing aesthetically pleasing, so I’ll skip that shot”—and if the potential clients want that shot, they should find another photographer.

I’ve written “imagine” because I haven’t heard of any such situations, but I expect they happen, and I hope Christian photographers (and believers who do other wedding-related business)—whether they say no, or use the opportunity that a yes allows, or say what they’ll do and what they won’t do—are always forthright

The gay lobby plan is to bring cases of “discrimination,” and in the case of photography, without acknowledging that it is an expressive, artistic activity. Will judges, if they insist artists take on commissions they don’t want, dictate exactly how they are to fulfill those commissions? Will they peer at photos and judge whether they’re adequate? Will they impose a gag order on photographers?
