He's accused of using Internet spam and a phony AOL Web page to con people out of thousands of dollars. The counterfeit "AOL Billing Center" sought the works: credit card numbers, mothers' maiden names, billing addresses, Social Security numbers, bank routing numbers, credit limits, personal identification numbers, and AOL screen names and passwords.... Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak is back in the tech business. His startup company Wheels of Zeus (acronym: WOZ, get it?) is building a wireless tracking system for virtually anything that can get lost, from briefcases to pets and even children. The devices are expected to sell for $200 to $250 and debut sometime next year.... Computer hackers tried to crash Internet networks around the world by exploiting a bug in Cisco's routing equipment. The company warned about the problem in its Internetwork Operating System software a day before the attacks started. The FBI promised to investigate the intrusions, which can cause routers and switches to quit feeding traffic.... More and more students are attending online classes. The U.S. Department of Education reported students enrolled in nearly 2.9 million college-level distance education courses in 2000-01.
