1. Vijay Singh, golfer

The Fiji native's quiet winning ways sure added up. Not only did Mr. Singh become the first golfer to surpass $10 million of winnings in one year, Mr. Singh also surpassed Tiger Woods as the world's No. 1 golfer.

2. John Henry, Red Sox owner

When he owned the Florida Marlins, Mr. Henry couldn't come to an agreement with the city of Miami to build a new stadium. So he bolted for Boston where he not only won a World Series, but also put an end to one of sports' most dubious streaks.

3. Tommy Tuberville, Auburn football coach

Last year, Auburn's president and athletic director plotted his demise, even secretly interviewing Bobby Petrino for the job before the Auburn-Alabama game. Mr. Tuberville kept his job (the president and athletic director didn't) and led the Tigers to an undefeated season. He was shut out from the national championship game, but he now has some sympathy and a safe job.
