Bang bang slice slice: Gun control and abortion

Juan Williams in today’s Wall Street Journal pleads for more gun control while firing away with some comparative statistics: The 44,038 black children killed by guns in the past third of a century is nearly 13 times more than all the black people killed by lynching in the 86-year period from 1882 to 1968.

Agreed that this is sobering, and here are other statistics to keep in mind: In the past 40 years, more African-Americans have died from abortion than from AIDS, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and violent crime combined. Every week more blacks die in American abortion centers than were killed in the entire Vietnam War.

Or let me put it in terms like those Williams uses: More than 16 million black children have died from abortion since it became legal nationwide in 1973. That’s about 300 times the number of black children killed by guns during that period, and nearly 4,000 times more than all the black people killed by lynching from 1882 to 1968.

Williams and other African-American media/political stars who favor both gun control and abortion put ideology above humanity. Same goes for white folks, of course.
