There's no love lost between the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers-opponents in one of the NHL's first-round playoff series. Actually, the Stars and Oilers have one of those longstanding grudges hockey is known for. Over the past seven years, the Stars and Oilers have met six times in playoff series. The Stars have won the past four series against Edmonton.... Longtime Chicago Bulls general manager Jerry Krause resigned earlier this month for health reasons, leaving the Bulls with one less link to Michael JordanÐera dominance. Mr. Krause took over personnel decisions in 1985 and enjoyed huge successes throughout the late 1980s and '90s, but could not rebuild the team after one of Mr. Jordan's retirements.... Those waiting for the old Ken Griffey Jr. will just have to keep waiting. For the third straight year, the All-Century outfielder has a significant injury before the first road swing. This time, a separated shoulder will sideline him up to 10 weeks and possibly longer. "If he didn't have bad luck, he would have no luck at all," teammate Adam Dunn said, paraphrasing a Peter Green song lyric. When Mr. Griffey joined Cincinnati in 2000, he was on pace to break Henry Aaron's all-time home-run record.... There's more trouble for Florida State's football program. Former Seminoles receiver Talman Gardner was arrested on drug and concealed-weapon charges. The arrest followed a string of bad news for the Seminoles program. Quarterback Adrian McPherson was kicked off the team for gambling while another teammate was charged with felony auto theft.
