Shame on Eduardo Najera for his inaccuracy. The Dallas Mavericks forward misfired on the team's first free throw in Game One of the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. But Mr. Najera made all seven of his other free throws in the game, and the rest of his teammates were even better. Dallas converted 49 of their 50 free-throw attempts. In the same game, San Antonio missed 17 freebies. Dallas won the game 113-110.... How bad does the NFL want to put a team back in Los Angeles? The league is willing to spend up to $10 million to find a stadium to host a team. Both the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings have shown a possible interest in jumping to the nation's No. 2 television market, left vacant when the Rams and the Raiders left in the early 1990s.... No joke: Funny Cide is the latest horse to contend for the famed Triple Crown. After winning the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, Funny Cide and jockey Jose Santos are poised to make a run at the record books when the pair return home to race at Belmont on June 7. War Emblem won the first two legs of the feat last year, but stumbled at Belmont. Affirmed was the most recent of the 12 Triple Crown winners.... A Seattle-area man's private baseball diamond will for now just be a field of dreams. David Kelly built a regulation Little League field near his home and opened it up to local kids and teams, but the city of Issaquah, Wash., has told him he'll need a permit to keep the park open. "Here we are going to the playoffs next week and we have nowhere to practice," Mr. Kelly told the Seattle Times. "Pretty soon we're going to need a permit to mow our lawns."
