A hopeful hashtag: #ShoutYourSalvation

Human beings can be shameless and barbaric. You don’t have to seek out tyrants, perverts, and criminals to see these conditions in action. Just look to the abortion industry in America.

We’ve seen and heard what happens to aborted babies. The remains of discarded human beings are merchandise. Up for grabs. These “products of conception” certainly don’t go to waste. They’re sold in the name of science. God only knows how many women deeply regret killing their own children because the pregnancies were inconvenient, and only He knows how many He’s forgiven.

But some of the shamelessness is worth noting. The Center for Medical Progress’ undercover videos have made Planned Parenthood and the entire industry look worse, if that’s possible. After the U.S. House of Representatives voted to defund Planned Parenthood last week, post-abortive feminists started the #ShoutYourAbortion Twitter hashtag in support of ending their babies’ lives. The mind can justify absolutely anything to alleviate remorse.

Woman after woman tweeted about her abortion. They framed a self-focused decision to avoid the consequences of their sexual behavior with defiance and pride. Had they ever considered adoption? Why kill the baby just because you didn’t want him? Why not “suffer” through nine months and allow him to live? To breathe, grow, play, laugh, and cry?

Poor babies. If anyone abuses a dog in the United States, you can almost hear the lynch mob’s thudding footfalls, trailing rope, and shouts for blood. But snuff out a precious unborn human life? Kudos and high fives. You go, girl! We are not ashamed! Really? It’s too disheartening to fully contemplate. Some pro-lifers countered the madness with a #ShoutYourAdoption hashtag. Here’s another that should catch on and spread like purifying fire: #ShoutYourSalvation.

No sinner is above God’s forgiveness. No sin too great. The murderer, the torturer, the molester, the liar, the thief, the man who lies with a man as he would a woman—all can be redeemed and washed clean by the blood of Christ. Someday, one or two or maybe most of the women tweeting about killing their own children will become our sister or sisters in Christ. Think about that. God will hear them and heal them. Even the ones who’ve killed more than one baby.

There is hope for the presently unrepentant. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?” the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth. “Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”

Let’s set aside our indignation for a moment and pray for the women publicly claiming they feel no guilt or regret for what they’ve done. One day they’ll have to face their Judge, and there will be an accounting.
