Several arrested after murder of Angola missionary
Authorities in Angola last week arrested three people believed to be involved in the killing of Beau Shroyer, a missionary from Minnesota. Investigators accused Shroyer’s wife, Jackie of promising to pay three men $50,000 to kill her husband, according to a translated report by the state-owned Angolan Press Agency. Authorities arrested Jackie earlier this month. Officials claimed that she was involved in a romantic relationship with one of the men they arrested. The man worked as a security guard for the Shroyers and their five children, said Manuel Halaiwa, a spokesman for Angola’s Criminal Investigation Service.
Why was the family in Angola? The Shroyers moved to the country in 2021 with the missionary organization SIM USA. They had been members of Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota for years before becoming missionaries. The church has said the couple’s children are being cared for. SIM has said the organization is cooperating with local law enforcement to pursue justice.
