Zelenskyy to appoint new defense minister
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday said that he would replace Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov with the current head of Ukraine’s State Property Fund, Rustem Umerov. Zelenskyy said parliament would consider the appointment this week.
Why is this change taking place? Zelenskyy said that after more than 500 days of war against Russia, the Ukrainian military needed to employ “new approaches.” Ukraine has acknowledged it is making slow progress in an ongoing counteroffensive against Russian forces.
