Officials in Yemen on Tuesday reported the Houthi rebels were losing ground despite the terror group’s renewed attacks within the region, according to a statement from Yemeni President Rashad al-Alimi’s office. Al-Alimi praised what he said were several victories achieved during the government’s “Dawn of Yemen” operation against the terror group, launched on Monday. The president also urged locals to stop their sons from joining what he described as a losing battle alongside the militiamen. The Yemeni military showed resilience and continued making progress, putting the country on a path to end the Houthi coup and the humanitarian suffering that came with it, he added.

Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree released a Tuesday statement denying Yemen’s reported success, and insisted the militiamen caused the military to retreat. Houthi forces stopped multiple attempts by Yemen’s forces to advance by using nearly a dozen ballistic missiles, he said.

Aren’t the Houthis attacking Saudi Arabia? The Yemen-based terror group launched attacks on neighboring Saudi Arabia earlier this week, specifically targeting the capital city of Riyadh. The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh issued a security alert on Monday over the threat of missile attacks. The terror group said it targeted Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport along with an oil refinery near the Red Sea, Sareea reported in a pre-recorded video message released on Monday.
